General Provision
• Health care is very limited in the Amani district.
• The nearest doctor is at a small district hospital in Muheza, 35km away; the regional hospital is in Tanga, a further 35km journey. Better care is available in Moshi at KCMC where more expertise is available. This is 400km away (5/6 hours drive).
• A number of volunteer doctors from the UK have visited Emau Hill since 2004; these volunteers have assisted with both treatment and health education.
• Qualified health care workers are always welcome as volunteers. More on volunteering...
• We have plans to develop and extend the healthcare provision by building a Dispensary which can be developed into a Health Centre.

Beat Back Malaria
• By far the biggest health problem is encountered by Tukae is malaria.
• Children under five and pregnant women are particularly vulnerable.
• Tukae will begin to provide treated bednets to all villages in the Amani area in 2008.
• A program of spraying the walls of dwellings with an approved insecticide will run concurrently.
• Some funding is already in place; additional donations are urgently required. Support us...
