| • Health care is very limited in the Amani district. |
| • The nearest doctor is at a small district hospital in Muheza, 35km away; the regional hospital is in Tanga, a further 35km journey. Better care is available in Moshi at KCMC where more expertise is available. This is 400km away (5/6 hours drive). |
| • A number of volunteer doctors from the UK have visited Emau Hill since 2004; these volunteers have assisted with both treatment and health education. |

| • We have plans to develop and extend the healthcare provision by building a Dispensary which can be developed into a Health Centre. |
| • By far the biggest health problem is encountered by Tukae is malaria. |
| • Children under five and pregnant women are particularly vulnerable. |
| • Tukae will begin to provide treated bednets to all villages in the Amani area in 2008. |
| • A program of spraying the walls of dwellings with an approved insecticide will run concurrently. |
